Gateway Arch - Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, St. Louis, MO. The Gateway Arch was erected in 1963-65 as a symbol of America's westward movement. It stands 630 ft. high and is sheathed in stainless steel. An elevator takes visitors to the top for a view of the St. Louis area. The base of the Arch houses the Museum of Western Expansion.
